2019 Dodge Ram 1500 Edition Commemorates Kentucky Derby

Talk about paying homage to horsepower! Dodge recently unveiled its special edition 2019 Ram 1500 to commemorate the 144th anniversary of the Kentucky Derby.

As a limited-edition pickup, the company is touting it will have all the techy and luxury features that Ram fans have grown to love on their new trucks, which includes: four-corner auto-level air suspension, that 12-inch Uconnect touch screen, as well as power-retracting running boards.

With that Derby theme, The Drive reported that the Ram 1500 will be a vision of beauty, splashed with ‘Run for the Roses’ fender graphics, metal trim within the cabin, genuine wood, ventilated and heated front, as well as back, leather seats. The special-edition pickup will also debut a brand-spanking-new appearance body color package, which is coming with all new Ram 1500 models this year.

This new package, as per a Ram representative, will add one out of six potential paint colors to vital factors of the pickup. As the rep has stated, the body-colored appearance matches the door handle inner covers, bumpers, as well as those fender flares.

But the question on everyone’s mind … why a Derby-inspired pickup?

Well, once you look at the bigger picture, it all makes sense. First, it’s hard to ignore that Ram is the official truck for the venue where the Kentucky Derby takes place, Churchill Downs. In addition, the equestrian sector is an industry that relies heavily on pickups when it comes to transportation, whether that be racing, breeding, or simply getting the horses from place A to place B.

Head of the Ram brand, Mike Manley chimed in on the special-edition Derby Ram stating the annual horse racing event is long-cherished American sporting occasion and closeness between the equine community and Ram trucks led to the creation of this limited-edition 2019 Ram 1500 Kentucky Derby pickup.

The special edition Ram is currently on sale for about $53,000 and change, plus an additional destination charge of just over $1,600. If you are interested in this Ram, race on over to your local dealership, as there are only 2,000 of them available.
