Steven Tyler Sells Hennessey Venom GT To Support Abused Girls

It’s always nice to see celebrities give back and this feel-good story coming out of the world of Rock ‘n’ Roll is no exception. Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, known for hits like Crazy and Janie’s Got A Gun, recently sold a high-ticket item of his, all is support of charity. The Rockstar’s 2012 Hennessey Venom GT Spyder sportscar was sold via the Barrett-Jackson auction, located in Scottsdale, Arizona. The vehicle sold for an incredible $800,000 where all proceeds went to support Janie’s Fund, Tyler’s non-for-profit that helps abused girls when they need a place to turn to.

The vehicle originally cost the Rocker $1.1 million dollars when he purchased it in 2012; so, it seems that the new owner made quite the ‘deal’ on the item. The leader singer of Aerosmith even included a guitar that he (as well as the entire band) autographed, and vacation time to spend at the singer’s residence in Hawaii. All that for $800,000? That’s a steal indeed!

All in all, only twelve of theses cars were built that year. The GT has twin-turbo power, a 7-liter V-8 engine that can go from zero to 60 miles per hour (mph) in under 2.4 seconds. For those speed demons out there, it can also get to 265.6 mph.

All that aside, MSN reported that selling the car seemed like a win-win situation for all. The new owner of the car gets the vehicle, along with some enticing goodies, and a great cause will from the support. Tyler noted that the money raised during the auction offers therapeutic support to abused girls in the U.S. for about 20,000 days. He goes on to state that as a father and grandfather, his heart broke to learn that in the U.S. alone, about 700,000 kids annually are victims of neglect or abuse; with 68,000 that suffer from sexual abuse.

Janie’s Fund works hard to help girls can overcome the abuse and rebuild their lives. For more information about the incredible work this not-for-profit does, visit janiesfund.org.
