The Polestar lineup from Volvo has recently transformed into its own sub-brand under the automaker, with its first vehicle set to be released in 2020: a two-door, plug-in hybrid coupe.
While the model was presented originally in 2013 as a Volvo concept car, it now emerges as one of the potential front runners when it comes to high-performance small hybrid vehicles within the market.
This 2020 Polestar 1 features two electric motors that power the rear wheels, with a gasoline engine in the front that has a third motor connected to it. All these engines combined creates 600 horsepower and 737 lb.-feet of torque. For those interested in the all-electric range, Volvo promises 93 miles, which may not match some of the “best of the best” when it comes to electric vehicles (EV), the company does tout the longest range for hybrid cars when it comes to any other on the market today. Plus, that gas engine should be enough to keep any drivers from panicking while out on the open road.
