Two Major Pop Stars Endorse New Honda Civic Hatchback

Debuting officially at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, Honda’s Civic Hatchback hit North American on March 22nd, making an appearance at an invite-only event in New York, one day prior to the 2016 New York Auto Show. Renting out “The Garage” (which also happens to be designer Kenneth Cole’s event space), pop sensations Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato were in attendance, announcing that they would headline the 2016 Honda Civic Tour. In its 15th year, the concert tour official opens in Miami in late June, and will visit 37 venues across the United States and Canada.

The stars revealed a Honda Civic Sedan that was custom-painted, and designed by Lovato. She took the opportunity to autograph the car while at the event and stated the inspiration of the design was due to the fact that she is currently into ‘rose gold’. While the car was once matte black, the newly designed (and autographed) Honda Civic will be given to a fan at the end of the concert tour, along with a Honda Grom motorcycle that Nick Jonas designed.

Meanwhile, Autotrader advises that it was also revealed that the newly debuted Civic Hatchback will also be used as the foundation for a new Civic Type-R. Jeff Conrad, a senior VP at Honda, noted that the newly revealed Hatchback is ‘emotional’ and has a ‘Euro-inspired’ look to it.

The new Honda Civic Hatchback will solely be produced at the company’s U.K. Swindon plant. Honda reps also stated that the vehicle might be referred to as a Civic Five-Door or Hatchback; and it is set to be released in the fall of 2016 as a 2017 model, with Type-R and Si designs to be released later on.
